The first Nebelung cats were called Brunhilde and Siegfried. Their owner, Cora Cobb was impressed with their beauty since they had grey/blue fur which was something quite different. These cats resemble Russian Blue cats with the difference that they have semi long coat.

Nebelung cats are a very rare breed of domestic cats; they have long bodies, long fur and green eyes. The name Nebelung is of German origin, where Nebel means fog or mist, probably because of the cat’s distinctive grey/blue fur.

Nebelung cats have a very graceful and long body, long tail, coat and legs. They also have slightly oval eyes in green color, but sometimes their eye color can be also yellow/green. They also have large and pointed ears, placed at the top of wedge shaped head. These are well muscled cats with fine and soft fur in grey color with a tip of blue/silver.

Nebelungs have a longer fur on their tail than on their body. Behind of ears, they have tufts of fur. When the cat is around 2 years old, their coat reaches its development. These cats weight around 7 pounds for females and around 14 pounds for male cats. Their life span is around 16 years.

This cat breed is also very affectionate, playful and lively. These are very intelligent cats and have a good nature. Even though these cats are very active, they live very well indoors. They don’t like strangers and prefer to be always around known people. They are also capable of bonding with a specific human from the family and stay devoted during all its life. Nebelung cats get very well along with other pets.

These cats are very good communicators. Sometimes they can even act like dogs, showing that especially through their devotion to the family. Also, they are very picky when it comes to food and cleanliness. They love to sit in someone’s lap while being petted. Nebelung cats require some time to adapt to changes in household, especially if its owners tend moving a lot. In order to make them more adaptable, early socialization is strongly recommended.
