Cheetoh cats are a result of creating a cat with wild look while at the same time having a gentle and docile nature. This cat breed incorporates the distinctive characteristics of Bengal and Ocicat, but is a large animal with a very gentle character with a muscular and athletic body. What makes these cats different from domestic cats is their stalking, low- shouldered walk typical for wild jungle cats. What enhances their distinctive wild look are their large eyes and ears as well as the spotted appearance. Their fur is thick and short-very similar to the fur of jungle cats, but at the same time very velvety.
This cat breed was first developed in 2001 by Carol Drymon of Wind Haven Exotics. The first litters arrived only in 2003. They are generously sized cats with thick necks and males can weigh up to 6-7 kgs when fully grown. Females are slightly smaller and finer, however they are still of a bigger size when we compare them to regular domestic cats. They also have a very interesting walk – they walk with a lower front stance and higher stance at the back.
Cheetoh cats have real jungle linage from the Asian Leopard cat. And even though Cheetoh cats demonstrate a very fierce appearance, they are amazingly social and loving cats. They don’t have tendencies towards aggressive behaviour. What is also interesting is that the male Cheetoh’s exhibit maternal characteristics towards younger cats and are never hostile animals. These cats are very safe when around children as any other domestic cat.
Cheetoh’s come in different colours as well, such as for example black/brown spotted sienna, black/brown spotted tan, black spotted smoke, lynx pointed/gold spotted snow, and black spotted silver.
Cheetoh cats are also a recognized and registered cat breed with the UFE (United Feline Organization) since 2004. TICA listed them as experimental breed though.
This tabby. spotted, large, look-like wild cat has a muscular and athletic body. They are gentle, affectionate to their human companions, and intelligent that they learn quickly. The Cheetoh cat is described as calm. They are very talkative cats. They like to play around children and other pets. Cheetos do not need much grooming because of their short coat and has a minimal shedding. One of the interesting characteristics of male Cheetoh is that they show maternal characteristics to their younger cats – how they take care of their kittens. They are never hostile or antagonistic and they are incredibly social and loving cat. They need outdoor activities to dispel all their energies especially the cubs. The male Cheetoh is bigger than the females.
